The HAND: Empowering Teachers (HAND:ET) initiative has developed comprehensive guidelines to upscale its program across the EU and beyond. Check them out!
In response to the evolving demands placed upon educators, the HAND: Empowering Teachers (HAND:ET) initiative has undertaken a comprehensive effort to develop guidelines for upscaling HAND:ET program across the European Union (EU) and beyond. This endeavor has been informed by thorough evaluations of the HAND: Empowering Teachers system for Social and Emotional Competences and Diversity Awareness (SEDA) learning among teachers and whole-school teams, complemented by extensive policy studies.
The primary objective of these guidelines is to model system-level solutions that support the advancement of SEDA education across the EU and beyond. Through a meticulous, evidence-based approach, the guidelines delineate recommendations at both the EU and country-specific levels, targeting structural challenges within the teaching profession.
The resulting guidelines offer a systematic framework for nurturing teachers' well-being, fostering social and emotional competencies, and promoting diversity awareness. By aligning with the strategic priorities of the European Union and addressing the needs of participating countries such as Austria, Croatia, Portugal, Slovenia, and Sweden, these guidelines represent a concerted effort to advance educational practices on both regional and national scales.
Through their emphasis on scalability, transferability, and sustainability, the HAND:ET guidelines aim to empower educators worldwide by providing a framework for professional development that goes beyond traditional academic training. This approach recognizes the holistic nature of teaching and acknowledges the importance of equipping educators with the skills and support necessary to meet the diverse needs of today's learners.
