Last week marked the culmination of the HAND in HAND Empowering teachers across Europe to deal with social, emotional and diversity-related career challenges project, with a final event showcasing its significant outcomes and findings.
Over the past three years, the HAND in HAND Empowering teachers across Europe to deal with social, emotional and diversity-related career challenges (HAND:ET) project has been dedicated to enhancing teachers' social and emotional competencies and diversity awareness, aimed at equipping them to navigate the complexities of their profession effectively.
The final event provided attendees with invaluable insights into the key concepts, outcomes, and findings of the Hand Empowering Teachers program as well as the policy recommendations for supporting the teachers’ well-being.
The event commenced with a framework provided by representatives from the Institute for Social Research in Zagreb, Iris Marušić and Ivana Pikić Jugović.
They shed light on supporting teachers' well-being and addressing burnout through insights from research and practice.
Moreover, Ana Kozina from the Educational Research Institute further elaborated on the HAND: ET project, delving into its outcomes and findings putting the special emphasis on the impact of the program in the implementing countries (AT, HR, PT, SI, SV).
Finally, Urška Štremfel, also from the Educational Research Institute, presented policy recommendations, highlighting potential pathways for a systematic approach to supporting teachers' well-being.
The event concluded with a call to action for all educational stakeholders to advocate for a systemic approach to supporting teachers' well-being in educational policies.
Thank you to all the participants, presenters, and organizers for their valuable contributions to this important discourse.
For those who missed the event or wish to revisit the event, the recording is available for viewing, providing an opportunity to gain valuable insights and contribute to the ongoing dialogue on empowering teachers across Europe.
Let us carry forward the learnings from today's event and work towards a brighter future for teachers and education systems across Europe.
